Grapes: The Five Key Fertilization Times

Grapes require different fertilization methods at different growth stages of the year. The following are the five key fertilization timings for grapes in general:

Spring awakening period: During the grape awakening period,  this is the beginning stage of grape growth. Nitrogen fertilizer can be applied at this time to promote the growth and development of new shoots. An appropriate amount of organic fertilizer can also be used at this time to improve the soil texture and provide the nutrients needed by the plants.

Pre-flowering period: In the early flowering stage of grapes, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied to promote the formation of flower buds and the nutritional needs of the flowering period. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers help improve fruit quality and yield.

Late flowering: In the late flowering period of grapes, nitrogen fertilizer can be applied again to meet the nutrient needs of grape plants during the fruit expansion period. Organic fertilizers can also be applied at this time to provide the comprehensive nutrients the plants need.

Fruit expansion period: During the grape fruit expansion period, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers and organic fertilizers can be applied to support the expansion and development of the fruits. Phosphorus and potassium fertilizers help improve the sugar content and taste of the fruit.

Fruit maturity period: During the grape fruit maturity period, appropriate amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied to help the fruits mature and improve the quality and taste of the fruits.

The timing and method of fertilization need to be determined based on local climate, soil conditions, grape varieties and other factors to ensure that the grape plants receive appropriate nutrition, grow healthily and produce abundant fruits.
